Thornton City Council Decides O&G Issues
May 14, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
This Tuesday (Tomorrow!), Thornton’s City Council will decide on several important oil and gas items that will affect residents. Two topics on the agenda are about pipelines that go through Thornton-owned land in Weld County and one topic is about leasing mineral rights which are owned by the city of Thornton.
Now is the time for Thornon area residents to show up at the meeting and let our City Council know that we oppose this dangerous infrastruture in our community. This is also a good opportunity to ask councilors to enact a moratorium on new drilling permits until Thornton rules are aligned with the powerful protections made possible by the recent passage of bill SB19-181.
We encourage everyone to attend and if possible, speak for up to 3 minutes during the public comment period. This period is early in the evening’s agenda, and you can leave when you need to. (If you plan to speak, please sign up on the register inside the council chambers meeting room).
Here are some talking points you can use!
