Please join Colorado Rising and our friends at Save the Aurora Reservoir (STAR) in protecting our communities, landscapes, and vital drinking water resources from over 150 brand new fracking wells. Planned to be drilled beneath neighborhoods, schools, and the Aurora Reservoir – a vital drinking water source for over 300,000 people – the “Lowry Ranch CAP” is a proposed oil and gas mega complex in Southeast Aurora. This area is already home to a water treatment plant, and active landfill that was once the seventh largest in the nation, and the Lowry Landfill Superfund Site, an open pit toxic waste dump that requires permanent, around the clock water remediation to prevent the toxins spreading further downstream into parks and play areas. Despite the clear dangers posed by this project, not to mention the projected billions of gallons of water consumption and massive amounts of air pollution slated to exacerbate the already record poor air quality in Arapahoe county, the Director of the Colorado State oil permitting agency, the ECMC, has recommended that the proposal be approved. We must act! We encourage you to give comment by Zoom at the ECMC Virtual Public Comment Session this Monday, July 15th. This will be the last time input from the public will be accepted before a final decision is made by state regulators.
