After hundreds of noise and health complaints per month, Broomfield city council filed noise ordinance rules to prohibit oil and gas operations noise from 10p-7a and issued multiple citations. After counter-suing, Extraction denied that the violations occurred but agreed to pay $273k and take additional noise mitigation actions including installation of additional sound walls, adding hay bales, and increasing the number of pumps. In exchange, Broomfield releases some of its claims relating to the initial notices, but does not preclude the city from taking legal action on future violations.
